| Community Legal Centres are independent community organisations providing free legal advice and information as well as legal education for individuals and communities across NSW. We promote human rights and advocate for a fair and non-discriminatory legal justice system. There are 39 Community Legal Centres in NSW. Anyone needing legal advice or assistance that cannot afford the services of a private solicitor can contact a CLC. Interpreters can be arranged and all client information is strictly confidential. and assistance on a wide range of common legal problems to people living
in their
catchment
area. Generalist centres provide confidential legal advice and assistance
on a range of issues including: Accidents and compensation, Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs), Banking and Finance, Children and Young People, Consumer rights, Crime, Employment, Environment, Family Law and Relationships, Housing, Property and Development, Human Rights, Immigration and Citizenship, Neighbours, Social Services, Transport, Health and Wills and Estates.

Useful Services LawAccess NSW is a free government telephone service that provides legal information, advice and referrals for people who have a legal problem in NSW. If you are going to court, have a legal problem or have a question about the law LawAccess can help you get the assistance you need. Ph: 1300 888 529 Legal Aid is a Government legal service dealing mainly
with family law and criminal legal matters. They provide free legal advice
as well as court representation, and grants of legal aid funds to pay
for a Legal Aid lawyer or a private solicitor. Whether you can get Legal
Aid
depends on the type of legal problem you have and your income. If you
are not sure whether you will get Legal Aid the Customer Service Officers
at
LawAccess can help you work out whether Legal Aid may be available and
assist you to fill out the Legal Aid application form. Call Law Access

Office investigates complaints about the conduct of NSW government
agencies and departments and their
employees,
as well as some non-government agencies. Ph: 1800 451 524 Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) Limited (ALS) is a community-controlled organization responsible for providing legal aid services to Aboriginal people in NSW and the ACT. The ALS has approximately 24 offices across NSW and the ACT from which it provides legal advice, referral and casework assistance in the fields of Criminal and Family Law (including Care and Protection). Office of the Legal Services Commissioner receives
all complaints about solicitors, barristers and licensed conveyancers
in New South Wales.
The OLSC also oversees the investigation of complaints about the conduct
of
practitioners and plays a major role in resolving consumer disputes.

information about relationship and separation issues. Through information
and referral the Centres help families strengthen relationships and deal
with relationship difficulties. Where families separate, the centres
provide information, advice and dispute resolution (such as mediation)
to help
